Rose has done a several different classes using Zoom since March and April of this year from various sources including UNH. These have all used Zoom, and one of the (significant) requirements is a good internet connection during the entire session. We've had good luck with the software, and getting the host / moderator online to recognize you is the key. Rose is already entered as a session receiver during moderator setup, and her name and password entry fields are waiting for her once the session code is entered.

Her instructors from several locations use the same software with both the limited and the unlimited session time version. Audio muting is always used to avoid round-table confusion and interference. People unmute themselves when they are recognized to speak, and her UNH sessions typically run 2 hours with several class participants.

Once a time is announced, feel free to contact us by phone (433-1357) to help coordinate the setup and link. She'll be present, as her expertise may help.

Hi Doyle,

Wes would like to do a practice zoom for anyone who can attend in the next day or so.

I tried to log on a number of times and was unsuccessful. I attempted using capital letters and such to see if there was one of those errors but after many tries identifying fire hydrants, buses and bicycles, no luck.

Would you give it a try and see if it works for you?

Any hints would be helpful!

Thankfully yours,

To use it, one person logs in, selects Host a Meeting at the top of the screen and invites others to Join by email. You can start the meeting immediately or schedule it for later. It is not very difficult but it may be slightly confusing the first time you host and invite. If your computer has a camera and a microphone, you should always select Use Computer Audio and Video when you start or join a meeting. I would suggest you try it out \u2013 you can actually host a meeting with no other people so you can see how it works. Be sure and locate the controls for Mute (the microphone icon) and Stop Video (the camera icon) so you know how to use those important functions. During a meeting you should always be muted unless you are speaking. Turning off the video (and muting!) allows you to eat something or blow your nose or whatever without grossing everyone out. There are a bunch of YouTube videos that can give you useful instructions. Be sure and End the meeting when you are done. If it gives you trouble, find a teenager.
