<div dir="ltr">Hi All,<div><br></div><div>The document looks great - glad we were able to come to the "salary band" agreements!</div><div><br></div><div>As far as $20 for the dockmaster for this season, I will add my thoughts:</div><div><br></div><div>We spent a good deal of time discussing the idea of a max on these ranges - to put this position at the $20 "band max" after (correct me if i'm wrong) 2 full seasons, seems a bit against the discussion we had on Thursday. In addition, using last years numbers, this represents a <b>33%</b> ($15 -> $20/hour) raise and over $<b>5,000 </b>(~1,050 hours worked last season)<b> </b>in increased payroll on this position alone. I will leave the ultimate negotiation in the hands of the proper officers, but making this change due to an ultimatum and offering 100% of what was demanded (<i>and it is a demand when you state if you don't get it you're leaving!</i>) sets a bad precedent in my view. What position are we in if the same thing happens next April and he asks for $25 or he's leaving? </div><div><br></div><div>While I am at the club a fair amount during the season, I will defer to others to speak to the merits of an increase on the grounds of performance, but from a financial standpoint anyone that warrants a 33% raise should decidedly stand far over and above any expectations that could possibly have been placed on them. I am not opposed to an increase, but one of this magnitude does not sit well with me from a financial standpoint, if nothing else. </div><div><br></div><div>As we all know, there has been much discussion of late being fiscally responsible when it comes to staffing. I feel that a 33% raise to the point of max out the newly created "band" flies in the face of all our conversations.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I look forward to the additional thoughts of the board!</div><div><br></div><div>-Scott</div><div><br></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Sat, Apr 14, 2018 at 11:46 AM, Glenn Michael <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:glennwmichael@gmail.com" target="_blank">glennwmichael@gmail.com</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div>Good Morning,</div><div><br></div><div>Attached is a document summarizing our many discussions using great input from the BOD. This document IS NOT perfect, but I think it reflects what we can do within a set budget. As I state in the attachment, paying 2 stewards for overlap inflates the amount a bit, but that is a cost of doing business.</div><div><br></div><div>Also, in my summary I have increased Freida's pay from $17 to $18 per hour. No matter where we end up with Freida, she is an excellent resource for the club.</div><div><br></div><div>I have placed Mike, the dock master at $20 per hour. This is where we are....I have been told by both Jerry and Mike that if this is not done, he will leave. My feeling is this.......with only one experienced dock hand, other than Freida returning (I am not counting Shapiro as he is end of season only) this is not the time to be hunting down a new dock master. $20 fits into our band and I recommend keeping MIke. If any of you have a problem with this I need to know no later Sunday night. April 15.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,</div><div><br></div><div>Glenn</div></div>
