I suspect many members still don’t know the password even though it’s been the same for years. Password management on an individual member level would be a problem… it’s the single biggest reason people call the ‘helpdesk’ in companies. Which has led to the development of ‘self-service’ password recovery mechanisms like “what you know’ password hints to recover the password, but this is not available in the current incarnation of our website, which is run by Chris Weller.

If security is an issue , there are now MEMBER MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS developed to handle clubs and organizations (such as www.wildapricot.com) which would automate all of the club functions including member billing, newsletters, password management, event reservations and payments, etc. I’m in the process of discussing one of these for another non-profit organization on whose board I serve.
