<p>What if we get a time estimate from Carole, Doyle and Chris of how much time they spend on a weekly/seasonal basis and then we can do a comparison and see where the Communications falls into fold? And the board will have a better understanding of what the
time commitment is for these positions.</p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p>Also, should we get some numbers for the last 5 years on launch income, # people who pay for the launch service and launch expenses so we can see how much effect the 50% increase in launch fee has the on launch bottom line? We can then use these numbers
at the annual meeting.</p>

<div>Well as I am reading my emails top to bottom I see a mistake. Please read this from Carole.
<div>I actually thought Carole was not going to talk to Chris until we at least agreed on time of offer and pay schedule. I guess I was once again wrong! Now we have a new snake pit!</div>

<div>Hi Nancy -</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Looks like we have another bad situation to work on.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I just talked with Chris Weller and told her the decision</div>
<div>from last night about the Communications position.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Chris is VERY disappointed and I would say VERY upset.</div>
<div>She believes that the Board either doesn't understand the</div>
<div>position or doesn't care. Here's why.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>1. She spends about the same amount of hours that Doyle</div>
<div> and I do on club work. She thinks that the Board does</div>
<div> realize all that is involved with web site management,</div>
<div> emails, and newsletters. She feels t<span style="font-size:12pt">hat she should be</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:12pt"> compensated the same as the T</span><span style="font-size:12pt">reasurer and Secretary.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:12pt"> with </span><span style="font-size:12pt">her dues forgiven and </span><span style="font-size:12pt">an additional stipend.</span><span style="font-size:12pt">($1500). </span></div>
<div>
<div><br>
</div>
</div>
<div>2. She feels that her responsibilities should be recognized</div>
<div> in the Constitution the same as the Treasurer and</div>
<div> Secretary positions are. Times have changed, and the</div>
<div> need for this specialized work has increased dramatically<span style="font-size:12pt">.</span></div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>3. Yes, there is a description of a "Communications</div>
<div> Committee" in the Member Directory. The write-up is not</div>
<div> up to date. Also, other people listed on the committee have</div>
<div> not done anything towards the communications functions in</div>
<div> the past few years other than to manage cameras. etc.,</div>
<div> which is now a totally different function from communications</div>
<div> through the web site and emails. <span style="font-size:12pt">She feels, and I agree,</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:12pt"> that the Communications C</span><span style="font-size:12pt">ommittee mentioned on page 71</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:12pt"> of the directory should </span><span style="font-size:12pt">be removed, since it has not changed</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:12pt"> in many years.</span></div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>4. Chris is certain that Board members are not aware of</div>
<div> how much work is involved and how much it has impacted.</div>
<div> the club. I can remember when attendance was slim and</div>
<div> very dull at events. In the past 6 years, Chris'</div>
<div> communications have increased interest and have also </div>
<div> successfully advertised events either mistakenly listed or</div>
<div> not listed in the annual s<span style="font-size:12pt">chedule.</span></div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>5. She feels this is a slap in the face because the position is</div>
<div> not recognized properly. For example, the responsibility</div>
<div> for newsletters is indicated in the Constitution as a</div>
<div> responsibility of the Vice Commodore. Yet Chris has</div>
<div> taken this responsibility on herself for years.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Nancy, I've worked very closely with Chris for years, and saw</div>
<div>her assume these responsibilities and do all this work 6 years</div>
<div>ago because she saw the need. I have done all I can to bring</div>
<div>this to the Board. I am not a Board member. Nor did they ask</div>
<div>Chris to come before the Board to state her case. But I have</div>
<div>seen her faithful and consistent work for the benefit of the club</div>
<div>and can only worry about her taking this personally since no</div>
<div>once seems to go to bat for her.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I don't know what happens next but an wondering whether the</div>
<div>Board could reconsider their position very very quickly.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Best,</div>
<div>Carole</div>
