I was getting ready to poll my team today to seek their feedback regarding what I thought was the new club position to charge workers for club dinners? What am I missing? I raised this when Soni mentioned it at the meeting and she said that the club can’t afford to have this and that we are a volunteer organization. I was a bit miffed as it was the first I’d heard of it. I’ve been working on the pulled pork team for 13 years and leading it for the past five years or so since George Kinser departed. As I mentioned at the Board meeting team members have been with the club for a long time and they all do a great job. Last year we got a newbie couple on our team and they worked out great. Aside from that we made several hundred dollars on the event and that was before several members of the team including Ellen and I donated the items we made and did not seek reimbursement. I think we need to make this clear right away and I’m really glad that I got this email before I sent out my notice to the team. Please advise what I was missing from the Board meeting the other night since Soni was adamant about team members paying and now you are saying that is not the case. Each team leader should submit a list of their volunteers to the folks collecting money for that evening. Those are the only folks who would receive their meals and not need to pay.
