Doyle,

Sorry to bug you, but, here's the potential scenario if we do nothing in
relation to our assessment increase:

Current assessment yearly tax bill. $18,087 New assessment potential tax
bill if mill rate stays the same. $34,109

That's a potential increase of $16,022, not insignificant.

This isn't the only area that the club needs to address financially. I have
made countless, great suggestions for years now on how the club can save
money and make money. For whatever reason, they never seam to be
implemented. Few
examples:

Saving water and charging for water. What not all people realize is we pay a
premium for water in New Castle. We buy from Portsmouth, already the highest
in the Seacoast to pay for the multi million dollar waste plant. We in New
Castle pay more. We always have leaking hoses and have several water spigots
that don't shut off completely, Many of the connections leak and have for
some time and never get fixed. One that was leaking burst and wasted a lot
of water. We were without dock water for several days. I took it upon myself
to take the old fitting off and get one at the hardware store and was about
to relpace it, but Matt grabbed it and installed it. Another suggestion I've
made is charging customers with boats to fill up their water tanks beyond a
certain amount of gallons. We have (sorry to pick on them) sailboaters come
in, get ten gallons of fuel and two hundred gallons of water. An easy fix
with a simple meter and sign stating " any water over XX gallons will be
charged at a rate of X per gallon.

Hot water in the club is always on a super high dangerously scalding
temperature. It needs to be turned down, yet, never does. It not only costs
a lot more needlessly, plus, it could be a liability.

Initiation fees. I did an analysis years ago on what it cost to join other
clubs. Our fees are way too low. People are waiting in line to join. Don't
understand the pushback on this.

Fair warning, a sore subject here, but, I feel worth considering. Doing away
with free "Life Member" memberships. This costs the club a lot of income.
I'm not aware of other clubs doing this and again, realize it's a touchy
subject.
I see several member up for it now which is what made me rethink this.

Anyways Doyle, this potential tax increase is serious and it's one minute
before midnight to have a chance to fix it. How do I get permission to run
with this or have another professional (one that would charge the club) do
it?

Bill -
I'm completely in the dark here. I don't know what 'PC' is being assessed, I
don't know why any assessment would be contested, and I don't know who
Avatar is. If a letter was written, I didn't write it. Please help me out
with some details.
Thank you,
Doyle

Doyle,

Has a letter been written to Avatar to contest the assessment yet? There's a
deadline any day now. How will this be handled? In my business, I represent
people to get their assessment down and have been successful in all that
I've done.
