Hi all,
I've spoken to my friend Elaine Foden at the Camden Yacht Club regarding their status and operations management for this 2020 season, and the following has been taken from her response. Elaine has been their operations manager for 22 years.

Peter,

Although the officers are still discussing this, our lunch minimum of $150 will probably still be billed to the members. Both of our clubs still have expenses i.e. payroll, boat maintenance, float maintenance, mortgages/rents, building maintenance, etc. We've put the issue of "refund or credit" off the table as those issues have been mentioned. Expenses still remain that are attributable to club operations even with limited use of the club.
We are experiencing a real shortage "regular" revenues. All rentals have cancelled (we would not have allowed them here anyway), lunch revenue is way down, float rentals from non-members are way down, we’ve cancelled all of our events except the races, (and the racers are not allowed on the property). We are still running our Junior Sailing Program but with fewer kids.
Our clubhouse is closed to members. Non-members are not allowed on the property. Everyone on the property must wear a mask. The lunch program we've had for years remains open. We have seating for 44 members…..socially distanced of course. Members must call-in their order, tell us what time they want it to be ready, and pick it up in a “bag” on a table outside of the clubhouse.
They can either sit at one of the tables, or take it home. We sanitize all tables and chairs each morning, and put a table cloth on the tables. If a member sits at one of the tables, we ask that they throw their trash away after they eat (bins are provided), and take the table cloth off and put it in a bin. We then put a NEW table cloth on the table. Lunch is definitely slow, probably only a 1/3 of what it would be in normal conditions but increasing slightly every day. Currently there is no talk of expanding the seating. There are spray bottles of sanitation all over the place.
There are “minor” discussions going on about having a small event….no more than 44 people. Bagged/boxed dinners, etc. I don’t really know the particulars, and frankly am not sure that CYC will actually do this. Our caterer also caters for a golf course in the area. Many of OUR members are also members of this golf course. The golf course is having these small events with success, I’m told.

See you all Thursday,
Peter

The attached was taken three days ago at our yacht club in Meredith. I was having coffee on the deck, and the loon suddenly appeared. I quickly set up 9fps for several seconds, this one came out well.
