I’ll do my best to put the answers to your questions in the context of those discussions. I’ve also included others on this response so we can continue to consider concerns raised by members as we test the waters during the initial opening. Bringing ‘guests’ to the Club is a long- standing tradition and privilege of membership. The definition of guest includes extended family members. We recognize some extended families are sheltering together for medical, educational, and employment reasons. The members with boats can take up to six people on the launch to their moorings and load crew from the face dock. Therefore, to keep things equitable 2 ‘guests’ are allowed to access the clubhouse facility with a member and one table per membership with a limit of six people is allowed. If members wish to sit together they can within the six person limit. We are trying to avoid the crowding (pull up a chair!) we have enjoyed at the club in the past. A PYC sticker must be on a vehicle to park in the lot or on the street until further notice. There is no public parking anywhere in New Castle until July 1 and then only at the Common to a limited number of cars. And, to your most important point of all, this nightmare virus challenges us in ways we don’t completely understand yet. You are right that we don’t know where the ‘guests’ have been and quite frankly, we don’t know where our members, staff, or the public fueling at the dock have been either. We live in a mobile society. Opening the facility is a calculated risk based on the belief the membership will follow mask and social distancing guidelines and make decisions to attend the Club according to their personal circumstances. Hopefully, opening the Club with guidelines in place moves us forward together. They will need to come with a member and sit at a table with the member. If we see problems or abuses as we go along we can always change the protocols and I’m sure there will be changes as the season progresses. My thoughts.
