Glenn:

I fully agree with Scott, Jeremy and Roy; no one is that valuable if 
he/she threatens to leave if they don't get what they want; a 33% 
increase is absurd.  In my limited view, compare all the training and 
immense know-how  the steward's position requires compared to the 
dockmaster's.

Sorry I didn't speak up in the meeting, but in my experience (in having 
52 employees in my company), almost invariably it is wiser to hire from 
within for a number of reasons. .  Freida is a known quantity, and we 
know she knows club very well, I dare say 95% of the members like her,  
so let's be sure she is given every opportunity (I mean preference), and 
enticement,  in consideration for the steward position.
