Board, Thank you for having me at the board meeting the other night. The J/24 District 1 Regatta is a qualifying event for the J/24 World Championships. The District 1 Regatta is held anually and rotates from fleet to fleet. This year will be the third time we have hosted the event in Portsmouth Harbor. The event has drawn boats from as far as Canada. As we discussed I'll outline what we'd like to request from the club for the District 1 Regatta. 1. Our biggest ask is for launch service. Friday June 1st out of town boats will arrive to have their boats launched. This has happened at the UNH pier at the Coast Guard Station in the past. I anticipate participants needing launch service from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday. Saturday June 2nd and Sunday June 3rd from 9:00 am until 11:00 am and then 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. 2. We expect 10-15 out of town boats. The KPYC, KPYY and Prescott Park have donated moorings/dock space in the past. We'd like to ask PYC for the use of 5 club moorings from Friday through Sunday. 3. Lastly we'd like to request the use of the club Friday evening from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for registration. The arriving crews will come to the club to be greeted receive their registration packets. This is generally a causal event where one or more members from each stop by to collect their bow numbers and sailing instructions. We'll serve refreshments and light snacks. We'll be out of the club by 8:30-9:00pm. Local J/24 Fleet 139 includes a number of PYC members and helps support youth sailing. This year Fleet 139 is working to fill a donated boat with members of the Portsmouth High School Sailing Team. Sponsorship of the event in the form of a donation will qualify the PYC for placement in the event literature, it's website and on the clothing and promotional items. I support youth sailing & had the pleasure of meeting a few of the PHS sailing team recently at the movie Sea Gypsies. Keep in mind the New Members Cocktail Party is Sunday June 3rd so any activity related to this event will need to exclude the Clubhouse & parking.
