Attached are the Water, Sewer and Irirgation rates for Portsmouth. The water and irrigation rate did not go up in 2017 but the sewer rate went up 4%. Our bill went up a lot more than 4%. At our house we use between 2-3 "units" a month. According to our water bill a unit is 748 gallons or 100 cubic feet.  1 unit a month is about 25 gallons a day.

The dock portion in 2016 was $216.49 and in 2015 was $173.04.


The current per unit rates  in New Castle are $7.36 for water and $17.49 for sewer. Those amounts change bill to bill.

The Dock water usage appears reasonable.

 

Roy thank you for the heads up on the Ladies Room Toilet running constantly this will be addressed immediately once the water is turned on.  All toilets will be tested for leakage.

Do you think the running toilets might have caused the $1000+ increase (between the extra water and the associated sewer) in last year's bill? Pat mentioned to me that is "fixed" the toilets quite a few times last year.

I believe the replacement for the toilets is to install the comfort height
16.5" high toilets and low flow. The men's room has a relatively low flow at
1.6 but I think the Ladies area did not get any upgrades because of the old
way wall offset. And they keep having flush issues. Would it worth thinking
about dual flush if we can find some with the 10" offset? (I didn't think to
measurement the offset while I was there but I think it is 10")

By the way, Pat likes the large mirror on the right by the door. The men's
room ceiling probably needs new dry wall, trying to fix a peeling ceiling in
a high moisture area is probably a waste of time. The Ladies room ceiling
might be able to be fixed and painted, maybe. Pat also mentioned the latches
on the stalls don't always hold back anyone pushing on the door. Jerry
mentioned about extending the counter cabinets in the Ladies to hide the
drain and get more storage. The light fixture in the Ladies room seems to be
pretty good shape, meaning like new.

We do have 2 water meters, one for the house and one for the dock so we
should only be getting charged for sewerage off the house meter. Is the
water expense entry in the financials for both water and sewerage?

bathrooms in regards to the renovation proposals in case our memories have
faded over the winter or we haven’t been in the opposite sex bathroom. I’ll
forward them later this weekend.

I also happened to be in Lowes looking at toilets for our house and they
have 10” offset toilets in stock for under $200, which is what I think we
need for the club. Standard is 12”.

Toilets running on can certainly run up the bill but the big change was the
large increase in the sewer rate.

(between the extra water and the associated sewer) in last year's bill? Pat

The Dock water usage appears reasonable.

 

Roy thank you for the heads up on the Ladies Room Toilet running constantly
this will be addressed immediately once the water is turned on.  All toilets
will be tested for leakage.

The dock portion in 2016 was $216.49 and in 2015 was $173.04. 

 

The current per unit rates  in New Castle are $7.36 for water and $17.49 for
sewer. Those amounts change bill to bill.

FYI, in 2017 we paid $798.09 for water in the clubhouse, $1790.78 for sewer
in the clubhouse, and $272.32 for water at the dock for a total of $2861.19.
In 2016, the total was $1711.32, in 2015 $1450.76.

We had a running toilet in one of our apartments and our bill was almost 900.00.  The plumber said water running constantly through a pinhole sized hole can use hundreds of gallons of water very quickly!!
