[Board-2017] Christmas Gala

As a non-profit, we make almost no charitable monetary donations to other organizations. The only exceptions have been in memory of a long-time member who passed away. Also, I don't think we will break even. Cost of the event so far is $7330 with 106 people signed up bringing in $6360 plus raffle. At a few events, we have collected money for a specific organization (usually for veterans' benefits) but that was kept separate.

I received a call from Darleen Chadwick, Gala chairperson, and she had a question regarding any extra money that may be raised at the event. She said that she just needs a couple more people and she will break even with the Wentworth CC. She is hoping to raise additional $500 from the raffle of baskets and to cover the band. She was wondering if there is more money raised rather than go into general fund could we make a donation to Salvation Army or Crossroads at this season of giving. I told her I would run her request by the board. Your thoughts?
