Such elections can be divisive, and cause hurt, embarrassment and result in decreased interest, even resignation, in some cases, by the loser(s). In the interest of what’s best for all the members, and the club overall, this should not necessarily have to be “democratic”. The nominating Committee should be a very strong body, made up of long-time, well-respected members, (appointed by the Commodore, or directors) whose efforts to come up with the best slate, per their recommendations, should be binding. This would virtually eliminate hard feelings, and in addition, greatly reduce time spent, in the annual meeting, in counting votes. I realize this is quite contrary to current procedure, tradition, and the constitution, but, for what it’s worth…. To the point of the number...there is nothing in the Constitution that states we only specify the ones we feel should be on the Board or Membership. So my feeling and that of others is we have offered up a great slate of potential Board and Membership potentials. Please let me know if you have an concerns and please state your vote for the nominated people. Carole, I will talk to you tomorrow. Again, I believe we did a great job in Encouraging new participants. Nanc -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
