I also heard from Joe. Confusion seems to be my problem.  I guess my
question is how does OneSky plan on making this their fund raiser?  Will
they be taking donations at the event- will they be having an on site
auction - or will they charge a lot for their tickets and that raises their
money?

In my mind we support this organization and can there be exceptions if they
are not raising money on site?

Roy, if you can get information that would be great - if we are all totally
confused and cannot get our hands around their wanting to use the club for
something other than a Gala - I think we should offer the club on a
Thursday.  If we get no answers that we understand I think we could invite
them on Thursday to the meeting.

Hi all,

I talked with Joe Nadeau about this and his read on Article XIV is that we
can not rent the space out to OneSky as a fund raiser for them because PYC
does not directly benefit from the event. Which was also my read on the
article after Dick pointed it out. Next steps: I can contact OneSky and let
them know or are there other ideas?

I think we should definitely support them on a Monday or Thursday night as a
private event.  I do have one question, however, in that I thought it went
against the bylaws (Article XIV) to hold "fund raising" events at the PYC
other than those that are raising funds for the PYC.  Maybe Joe Nadeau
should be asked to clarify this.

Dear PYC Board members,

The PYC Challengers Cup committee met with the One Sky Challengers Cup
committee on Friday January 22, 2015 to start discussing the 2016
Challengers Cup.

One Sky is thinking about doing some fund raising this year to help cover
some costs of providing equipment to their clients. Where the Challengers
Cup is their big event for the year they are looking into having sponsors
for the Cup and a "Gala" cocktail party in the week prior to the Cup where
their sponsors and anyone else who wants to purchase tickets can attend.

One Sky has asked if they could use PYC for the Gala event for one evening
in that week before the Cup race. They are not expecting PYC to help with
the sponsorship drive, except maybe to provide the function space. One Sky
would like to come to the next board meeting to present their idea and
provide us with more information. They are aware they would need to hire a
policeman and our capacity limit might be around 130 people.

The Gala would be in the middle of September, which is not our most busy
time and they are aware that the PYC function space is also club house which
they would be taking over. They were thinking of having it the Friday or
Saturday before the Cup, but we indicated that the club house is generally
only used for private functions on Mondays and Thursdays in September.

Do you think this is something PYC would be interested in assisting them in?
