[Board] Special request

The issue is that a member has submitted an issue to be considered at the annual meeting.
We can support it or not, but I think any member has the right to have an item brought before the membership. True democracy in action!!

Jim - I agree with your assessment - in some cases the more the merrier is not a good thing when you consider the size of our facility.

If we can meet the requirements of the constitution in time for the meeting, I think we should let the members have a choice, after the financial facts are explained to them.
They should be made aware that an increase of $100 per current membership would yield about the same revenue as the addition of approximately 45 new members. There may be some increase in attendance to some functions but we have wait-lists for many functions now, and we can reserve the ability to add members at a later date if needed. We would need some fact sheets indicating pros and cons, so the decision would be based on information and not solely on preventing an increase in dues.

Al Williams and a couple of other members have petitioned that a vote on increasing the membership be added to the annual meeting.
There is no clear directions concerning adding member petitions to the annual meeting (nor any directions about BOD inclusions… perhaps we need to address this)
Carol indicates that she can add a slip of paper to the mailing.
Your thoughts?
