[Board] Front door and Historic District

Just so everyone is up to date. We have a building permit for the doors and the tile. We are scheduled for a meeting with the historic commission on May 7th. The new door is in, but we can’t put it in until we get permission.

All things being done legally.

A small snag with the front door…

Apparently because the door is visible from the street, we must get permission from the Historic District Commission. (!&^%$#) We have filled out the proper forms, and they have to notify the abutters. The Historic District meets May 7th and we found out that our deadline is today, so we’ve filed the proper paperwork. I think that doing this the proper way is the only option since it’s visible from the street. This adds an additional $500 in fees and costs to the project. Ironically, there are at least 2 other doors EXACTLY like the new door in the neighborhood, so we don’t anticipate any problems except for the cost and delay.

The other doors were all approved because they’re not visible from the street.
