Greetings,
THE BEAT GOES ON!

After a conversation this morning with Art Dionne regarding BOD nominations he alerted me to and fwd. the following e-mail. Art also told me that the 2010 BOD had come to a conclusion similar to our current thinking. Apparently we are in this years edition because the fee was paid by the money chaps without direction!

I will fwd. one other short missive on the subject.

As you will see when the Sept. Agenda makes it to your “in-box” Chris Weller will have some further info. ref. reciprocity.

Thanks,
Greg

Dear fellow PYC members,
An update...

The Yachting Club of America is an organization that coordinates YC reciprocity by providing and distributing a publication of enrolled clubs. PYC has been a member for years. In April I learned from the commodore that the Board of Directors had decided to eliminate our membership in the Yachting Club of America because of the increased cost now at $500 annually. I was disappointed because as we travel by boat and otherwise we often have enjoyed reciprocal privileges using either a dock, a dinghy dock, a dining room, etc. at many other clubs. Talking with other members, all were unaware of this decision and disappointed with this vote of the board.

I discussed this with the commodore and in early June, and at his direction, I wrote a letter to the BODs requesting that PYC membership in the Yachting Club of America be renewed as there are many members who want to keep this privilege alive. I was told that this was denied in the June BODs meeting because the BODs thought only myself and perhaps a few others had this interest and the expense was too great. I explained to the commodore that there were many more than “just a few of us” and he wanted me to provide the names of those interested. For the July BODs meeting, with the help of the Almgrens, Gail Spivey, Paulette Semprini and the Rasmussens, I wrote to the commodore and BODs providing more than 60 PYC member names requesting renewal. Again the BODs denied the request. The commodore told me the Board “had no interest.” Needless to say, I find this very disappointing after providing the names of so many members with keen interest in this.

Recently, the commodore suggested to me that those interested either petition the Board or write individual letters. Now I am asking that you petition the board in writing by electronically responding to me (or confirm your interest to me in snail mail at PO Box 570, Rye, NH 03870). Separately, I am sending a short email for ease in replying to me – just hit reply, add your name and send it back to me. Any questions -- contact me, George and Nancy Almgren, Paulette Semprini or Gail Spivey. I will take this to the board – hopefully in Sept. I hope we can show strong support for membership in the Yachting Club of America and the board will renew the PYC membership. If you are inclined, any other letter you might like to write to the BODs would also be helpful.

Thanks for your help with this.

Sincerely,

Diane Myles
