[Board] Message from al williams

Greetings,

I agree with Charlie’s point of not , generally, making monthly financial report public. Certainly if a member wishes to see same they should have access. Also, his example of the kinds of things for public comment is a good one.

The members elect a BOD to have us exercise administrative and fiduciary responsibility. ( plus plan good parties!! ) In any case the public at large should not have access to the financials of PYC which would be the case if they were “on line” or posted in the Club.

My thoughts.

Greg

I believe that the detailed numbers should be available for viewing by any member requesting to see them, but not generally made public, and certainly not posted anywhere. There are certain things that should remain confidential - like payroll. Do we really want employees (or their member parents!) asking why they can't have year-end bonuses if there's still money left in the budget at year's end?

Commentary such as, "All items except mooring R&M, which was $2,500 over budget as a result of the elevated cost of replacement mooring chain, and fuel sales, which were weaker than expected in our recent rainy period, remain within or close to budget. We have plenty of cash on hand, and expect to finish the year well within our overall operating budget" should tell most folks what they want to know - I.e., are things under control, there aren't any unanticipated financial threats on the horizon, etc.

Just my two cents' worth.

Charlie.

Subject: Board Reports

Dan,

I have caught up on what’s happening at the Club via the board reports.

I don’t know if you remember a conversation that we had in the past regarding

the “complete” financials be included as part of the BoD minutes and / or posted at the Club.

I am sure the treasurer’s reports are fine but the last several board meeting

minutes have not shown or discussed the financial position of the club like in the

Past i.e; cash on hand, % of budget spent/remaining, etc).

I believe some “numbers” need to be referenced at a minimum in the board meeting minutes.

I would prefer the completed Treasurer’s report be made part of the public record just like

the B of D Meeting minutes are.

Can you please bring my concern to the board for consideration and discussion?

Best Regards,
ARW
