Hi, Carole,

The easy answer to your question of timing is that is what the Constitution states (Art. XII) I suspect the 2 month “grace” period was put in place to accommodate “Snow Birds” postal woes. Also during periods of low member count it gave reluctant renewing members time to consider the error of their ways (we needed the money!) I would agree that some invoices get put aside and forgotten, we did so ourselves about 15 years ago. I got a call from Brooks Kennedy (BOD member) in the dark of night to remind me. Any change to current policy would require a Constitutional change at Annual Meeting. This can certainly be a subject for discussion by the BOD.

Those of you who suggested a STRONG reminder of the dues requirements are absolutely right. Charlie, I really like the bold red print idea.

I will be out of town for a week, (leaving Tues. at semi 0-dark) so Madam Vice you have “The Flag”! I’ll still be cell & e-mail capable, however.

Thank you for the response.

I'm wondering why there is a deadline of March 1 for invoices sent in December.
Because they aren't due immediately, possibly some people put them aside and forget about them.
Now, I wonder whether a couple of them are away on vacation.
It's a tight schedule to get new members in, since they have 30 days to pay once invited, and all
must be reconciled by the first of May.

This happens every year.  I wonder whether the Board would want to discuss making the payment
more immediate, or at least within 30 days.

I'll be keeping track, of course, and will report back on all of the members originally listed.

Greetings All,

I’m sure you are in receipt of Carole’s letter re; unpaid dues. Since we had discussed calling recalcitrant members and failed to follow up (my error) I suggest we cut the now eager payers some slack and not invoke the Constitutional remedy in haste! If there are no objections I suggest we accept the payments from all those 2010 members who have given a positive response to Carole’s calls regarding 2011 dues.
