I think the invoices should say, in large red print, that "Article XII of the Constitution says, in part, "Any member whose dues remain unpaid on March 1 shall be expelled without further notice.""  There will always be folks with legitimate reasons for not paying on time, and people for whom we want to make exceptions, but I think we need to make clear that the responsibility to pay in a timely fashion lies with the member.  It is not Carole's job - or Jerry Karcher's job - to be chasing these folks around.  The newsletter could be employed in a similar fashion.

I absolutely agree, but I think we should give them a stern warning that they’ve violated the rules… and don’t do it again.

Greetings All,

 

I’m sure you are in receipt of Carole’s letter re; unpaid dues. Since we had discussed calling recalcitrant members and failed to follow up (my error) I suggest we cut the now eager payers some slack and not invoke the Constitutional remedy in haste! If there are no objections I suggest we accept the payments from all those 2010 members who have given a positive response to Carole’s calls regarding 2011 dues.
